Coco has been a friend of mine for a few years now and we’ve worked together a few times in the fashion industry. She knew I was also a wedding photographer so she asked if I would photograph her wedding to her long time boyfriend Joe. Although I live and work in Berkshire my second home does seem to be Brighton and the surrounding area, I go there a lot and love it. This was a themed wedding loosely based on Alice in Wonderland ( with Coco being Alice of course ). I started the day very early at Worthing Pier, as I had to get down early to avoid the traffic so I thought I may as well shoot a few landscapes…It was pretty cold, but worth it for these shots. I don’t get much opportunity to shoot landscapes in Reading, so it was nice to get down to the coast.
I then went to Selden Barns and began covering Bridal prep. I knew this would be fun and Coco did not disappoint. Here are some of the images..Coco had three bridesmaids and one long time friend in attendance. I love bridal prep, it’s usually a really fun, but quite relaxed part
of the day. After that things just speed up and the day starts to flash by, but bridal prep lets me get into the swing of things and I get to know the bridal party a little bit. The fabulous makeup artist is https://www.instagram.com/eszterhercsik/, so get in touch via instagram if you need a makeup artist for your wedding. I know that Coco wanted a warm tone to the photos, so I toned them a little differently to my normal style, especially with the black and white photos ( I am a sucker for black and white wedding photos ).
Then it was on to the ceremony, everything took place at Selden Barns, which made my life very easy and also a lot more relaxing for Coco and Joe
After the ceremony it was back over to the reception area, which was a marquee, and absolutely beautifully decorated. One of the stars of the show was this amazing cake by https://www.calleyscakes.co.uk/. If you need your wedding cake to be something truly special I’d highly recommend them.
Even though this was a winter wedding, the reception area was warm and inviting, Selden Barns did a great job of hosting this wedding.
One of the great things about this venue, apart from the spectacular country setting, is that everything is in one place. Coco and Joe didn’t do the confetti right after the ceremony, they just did it a bit later outside the main reception area.
After the confetti we nipped into the garden area for a few shots of the two of them. We had to be quick, because although it was a beautiful sunny day it was also very cold indeed. Here are a couple of the shots.
Then it was back into the reception area for the speeches. Coco had lost her father a few weeks before the wedding, so the speeches were very emotional ( and even without such a loss, I find the speeches get quite emotional at many weddings ). There was a lot of laughter as well though, this is a very fun couple.
After the wedding speeches there was a lot of time to mingle, and in keeping with the Alice in Wonderland theme they had a magician doing the rounds.
The dancing and cake cutting wasn’t a huge thing for Joe and Coco ( I don’t think they wanted to cut that amazing cake ), so I won’t put in too many of those photos. Here are a few of my favourites from a fantastic wedding that was a real pleasure to be a part of.
This was a wonderful themed wedding in a lovely, cosey wedding venue. I hope you enjoyed reading and looking at the images. If you want to know more about my wedding photography just pop over to this page…https://www.croshawphotography.com/contact/ .
